Borges Jumbo
35 "Barndance"
Mahogany body and neck, Adirondack spruce top, 24 3/4 inch
string scale, Brazilian rosewood fretboard and bridge. Waverly
tuners, deluxe case included.
Based on Gibson's famous Jumbo 35, made from 1936 to 1943
(first offered with natural top finish in '39), Julius Borges
took a bit of liberty with the original design to avoid conflict
with Gibson, but he's captured the spirit of those wonderful
1930s Jumbos. Julius uses only hot animal hide glue in all
stages of construction, and his finishes are done with shellac
and lacquer. This authenticity both in the materials and the
building methods is why he gets closer to the sound and feel
of a vintage guitar than any other contemporary maker.
