Santa Cruz Custom H cutaway, koa/cedar

Wille Carter lives in Santa Cruz, and drops by the SCGC shop quite often. When Frank came to work with a few sets of this curly koa under his arm, a find from one of his visits to local luthiers and woods brokers, Willie wasted no time in working up a special Santa Cruz. Gryphon has been on a roll with cedar top guitars of late, and when combined with koa the results are particularly pleasing. This one has Brazilian rosewood binding combined with the colored purfling as used on the SCGC FS model. The deep body delivers plenty of bass response, but with the brightness of koa and the quick response of cedar, the result is a warm, responsive guitar with lots of volume, but from a compact package.
