Sergei de Jonge SSS with Quilted Mahogany/Bearclaw Spruce
Here's our latest rare woods custom from Sergei de Jonge. We supplied the spectacular quilted mahogany, which in this case is more wavy in appearance, and Serge dug into his stash of incredible bear-claw spruce. The bindings and headstock veneers are highly mottled Zircote, and the soundhole rosette is spalted Manitoba box elder. The result is fine woodworking extravaganza, with details and color to delight the eye, but with a powerful tone that allows this guitar to hold its own in any setting. This mahogany is both darker and harder than the usual South American "genuine" mahogany, although the tree was harvested decades ago after being found lying in a ravine in a remote part of Honduras.
