Summer NAMM Show 2006 in Austin, Texas
(Plus a Collings Factory Tour!)
This is a shot of the new Johnny
Cash model from Martin. Gryphon will be receiving one shortly
so keep your eyes on our site.
Gryphon's fearless leader, Richard Johnston,
is pictured here meeting with none other than Bob Taylor. I
wonder what RJ's ordering?
Here's Richard having a laugh with Saga's Richard Keldsen,
guitarbuilder Mike Stevens, and Bill Collings.
One bonus about having the show in Austin was that the Gryphon
team got an extensive tour of the brand spanking new Collings
factory. Here's a staggering display of the Collings electric
guitar line.
Collings electrics once again.
These guitars are worth one more look, don't you think?
Here is a glimpse at one of the main wood stashes at the Collings
shop.
One of the few areas of the shop that is not perfectly neat
and tidy; the mandolin side material storage area.
Here's a few guitars having their bridges glued on.
The mandolin final setup area. Here, a craftsmen will put
the hardware on the instrument and give it the final touches
it needs before it leaves the shop.
Holy smokes! Is that the inside of a new Collings hollow-bodied
guitar? Sure it is. Take note of the innovative design features.
RJ fell in love with with this mahogany Santa Cruz, so he
decided to buy it. Look for this fine guitar showing up in the
shop in the coming days.
Once again, the people at Peterson (known for their strobe
tuners) have topped themselves. This year, they fashioned one
of their legendary organs with bottles from alcohol distilled
right in Austin.
Here is the always colorful head of the Bushman Uke Co. with
a couple of the, er...spokesmodels.
RJ was lucky enough to get a private tour of the Space Center
in Texas by the one and only Steve Robinson. Steve has been
a customer and friend of the store for years and is an Astronaut
with multiple missions in space to his credit!
It just wouldn't be a NAMM show without a Jumpin' Jim sighting.
So here you are, Jumpin' Jim!
