| Our apologies to those who called inquiring about this
banjo in recent months, but it disappeared in our attic and
was just re-discovered in early December. Whew! We were pretty
sure it hadn't been stolen, but couldn't find it (if you saw
our attic, where we store instruments and take photos for
the website, you'd understand)
This Epi Plect has original finish throughout, and the tortoiseshell
celluloid on the back of the resonator is in excellent shape. The
frets have moderate wear, and the engraved inlays are also
somewhat worn but the engraving could be re-filled with black
to look far better than shown here. One inlay has a corner
missing. The gold plating is tarnished, but only worn through
to the brass on the armrest. Some of the steel hooks, however,
have lost most of the gold. The neck is remarkably straight,
and the skin head is strong and tight, just discolored. A
nice, solid, plectrum banjo with lots of colorful wood marquetry.
