1966 Gibson SJN "Country Western"
One of the cleanest '60s Gibson flattops we've had in
a long while, purchased from the original owner who bought
it when he was a teenager. It got some use, then was stashed
for years. Completely original, including the plush-lined
chipboard case with arched lid and the little metal "Gibson"
plaque on the lid of the accessories pocket. This guitar has
the "2," for "second," stamped on the
back of the headstock below the serial number, but we can't
figure out why (Gibson would sometimes stamp the "2"
on instruments with no problems at all when they had excess
inventory). The original owner pointed out a small filled
spot on the top, just above the tail block, which he said
was there when he bought it, so perhaps that was the reason
for the "2" stamp. It has the small "'67"
neck. There is no sign that this guitar has ever been worked
on or modified in any way. We didn't even polish it, we just
changed the strings.
