1927 Martin 0-18 Made for steel strings
More sound per pound than any guitar in the shop! This
0-18 has seen quite a lot of work, but is now remarkably solid
and ready for its next life as a hardworking, lightweight
guitar that surprises all who play it. Neck had been reset
before we got it, with a wedge under the fretboard at the
soundhole end. Gryphon crew made the bridge and French polished
the top. Multiple side cracks to the treble side had been
repaired earlier, with a rather profuse batch of cleats on
the inside, but we French polished the entire surface and
it now looks quite nice. The coloring and surfaces of this
guitar appear original, but it had been lightly oversprayed
before we got it. Thanks to careful polishing, the finish
appears very much like that of a late 1920s original Martin
finish, but it isn't quite that simple. A strap button has
been added to the heel as well.
