We just had an original 1937 000-18 in stock to compare this with. While I was skeptical about the ability of a new instrument to stand up to a "Golden Age" example, I was suprised at the result. The original of course had seventy plus years of playing and aging so there was a quality to it that can't be beat. But it turns out, you can get remarkably close. The Authentic reproduction has a very close balance between the bass, mid range and treble, and the tone, while not as "dry" (yet), had much of the character of the original 000-18. The weight and "heft" of this guitar is also right on the mark as is the feel of the neck contour. This is as close to recreating an original 1930's Martin as anybody has done yet, and it costs 20% of the original. Tom
