This is a beautiful example of the fine luthier work coming from the shop of Rick Turner. The flamed maple top is a marvel. The way I heard the story is they had this beautiful set of maple guitar backs but there were no matching sides. They plained the wood down to the thickness of a Ukulele top. They matched it up with a sleek set of Honduran Rosewood back & sides.
They felt this wood was worthy of extra effort so they carved the neck out of flamed maple and flipflop-paired the head plate of Honduran Rosewood to match the back and sides. Still this wasn't enough. There is delightful, a tight herringbone purfle, ivoroid binding, a pin bridge and gold-plated gotoh tuners.
Though this Ukulele is a real looker it has the rich sound you expect from Rick Turner's shop. Tuned with a low-g it has a lovely, rich resonance. It is full-voiced, detailed and a delight to play.
