These strings are unlike other flatwound strings due to their incredible tone. Typically, flatwounds are noted for a thuddy sound with little sustain; Pyramid flats have a powerful growl and a unique, compressed sustain with the flatwound advantage of reduced finger noise. Curious about their tone? Pyramid flats are the sound of the early to mid-period Beatles recordings (as well as most other '60's British invasion greats). If you've wondered how to copy the tones heard on the intros to 'Day Tripper' and 'I Feel Fine', these strings just may be your ticket to ride. While I tend to be in the minority of folks at Gryphon that use 80/20 bronze strings, I love their jangly, brilliant tone that seemingly squeeze out chimey overtones that are unheard with phosphor bronze strings. 80/20 strings don't last as long as Phosphor bronze, but I feel that they are worth the extra effort in more frequent restringing. - $8.97
