Martin started building this 00-21 Hawaiian late March in 1931. It still has its original tall Hawaiian nut and flush bar-stock frets, along with its original Waverly tuners. The bridge is later, and slightly oversized, but belly bridges were standard on all Martin’s steel string models by this date. Because there are far more players who play in the standard style, these Hawaiian guitars have almost all been converted by having new fingerboards with tall frets made for them. That’s too bad because these are amazing Hawaiian guitars and sound great when played with a steel.
