2019 Taylor Builder's Edition K14ce Steel String Guitar Used
Along with the V-braced top and all the tonal benefits that come with genuine Hawaiian koa back and sides, this Builder's Edition K14ce has nice visual extras as well. Some of these decorative touches, such as the sinuous curves of the abstract vine pattern inlay on the fingerboard, are obvious but other little extras are harder to spot. Our favorite is the double book-matching of the figured koa on the back. At first glance it's a 3-piece back, right? The usual 3-piece back has outer wings that are book-matched, but the inner wedge is solo, but Andy Powers decided to make the inner wedge of two book-matched pieces of flamed koa that while different from the outer wings, these inner sections mirror each other. A small thing, but a nice touch on a guitar that's already loaded with nice touches such as the pearl bordering on the top and back, the arm bevel, gold Gotoh 510 tuners, the list goes on and if you add up these extras when ordering a custom Taylor you're in serious $$$ territory far beyond the cost of this one. It's in nearly perfect condition but there is a small ding to the edge of the top, just outside the abalone top bordering (check the detail shot, which makes it look worse than it does in person). Original paperwork is in the case.
