Details
The AD17 is part of Taylor’s new American Dream series, which are made of all solid tonewoods in El Cajon, California. This particular guitar has a Sitka spruce top with a striking black finish and ovangkol back and sides, a combination that produces a guitar with a nicely balanced bass to treble response. The AD17 has the new Grand Pacific body shape, V-Class bracing, chamfered body edges and a super-thin 2 mil matte finish. The AD17 ships in Taylor's AeroCase for maximum protection and portability.
About the Taylor American Dream Series
The Taylor American Dream series of guitars are named for the small guitar workshop where Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug first met in the early 1970s and where the company that grew into Taylor Guitars got its start. The idea behind the new line is to create affordable, all-solid wood guitars that are built in the US. But rather than returning to the past for the guitar’s design, Bob Taylor and master guitar designer Andy Powers opted to base the series on their newest body shape, the round shouldered Grand Pacific dreadnought.
The Grand Pacific is Taylor’s newest body shape. Like dreadnoughts from other builders, Grand Pacifics have lots of volume with a strong bass response. But Taylor’s V-Class bracing tames the booming low end to produce a rich tone that blends warm but focused bass with clear, defined trebles and mids. These are guitars that have enough oomph to drive a band rhythmically, but they have a balanced voice that is capable of remarkable subtlety as well. The Grand Pacific is a very versatile guitar.
