This Collings MT2 Carpathian Spruce uses high quality eastern maple in the back, sides and neck . The full gloss A-style mandolin has stunning figure in maple and a nicely carved Carpathian spruce top. None of this world matter if the mandolin didn’t have the tone to back up the beauty but, happily, this MT2 sound as good as it looks. It has the loud, crisp bark that bluegrass pickers crave but it has a sweetness in the single notes that work well for jazz, Celtic, old-time or anything you might want to play.
