Matt Visits Taylor and Scores Great Custom Models

In late March our man Matt Lynch made a trip to the Taylor Guitars factory to work with Billy Gill on choosing wood for a series of Custom guitars. While there, Taylor’s all-star videographer Alberto Moreno filmed them sorting through stacks of rare woods for the backs and sides, plus spruce and cedar for the soundboards. Taylor now offers a wide range of options, and it isn’t just the chosen wood that will impact the sound of a new custom guitar. Taylor also offers different bracing options, and choosing a neck with 12 frets clear of the body (instead of 14 frets) also makes a big difference. Matt has a lot of experience weighing all these possibilities when putting together a Custom Taylor (and of course the cost of these different options has to be factored in as well).

We hope you’ll enjoy seeing the results of Matt’s latest Custom Taylors trip, and of course we’d love it if you could come in and play some of them. If you find that these custom guitars spark your imagination and make you think of your own unique design, just ask us about what you want. You might be surprised at how affordable a one-of-a-kind guitar designed by you can be. Thanks to Taylor’s wide-ranging woods, inlays and binding options, plus several different finishes, you can have a custom guitar that looks, feels, and sounds unlike any other.
