Fiddle tunes make up a significant portion of the instrumental tunes you’ll encounter in jam sessions and in bands. However, it can take months to memorize someone else’s complex note-for-note arrangement and be able to play it up to speed in a jam. In this brand-new workshop topic designed for “high” beginner through lower advanced students, Bill will present an ear-based method utilizing what you already know to develop banjo-friendly solos that you can actually play! Along the way, Bill will discuss his own decision-making process in how he works up solos to fiddle tunes by mixing Scruggs, melodic and single-string techniques as needed, based upon the chord progression and melody . Tab examples will be provided and audio/video recording is encouraged.
