Monday, June 12th – Beginner’s Boot Camp
Lots of chord drills and right hand finger exercises designed to tighten up your chord changes and make your strumming sound even and smooth. We’ll also have fun jamming a bit and learning short cuts to memorizing songs. Good for students who’ve completed level 1 and level 2 classes.
Tuesday, June 13th – Intro to Chord Leads Up the Neck
Learn where to find partial chord shapes for common chords and common chord progressions up the neck. Hint: It’s easier than you might think! We’ll locate these positions, play some rhythmic patterns, and explore some simple arpeggiated leads up the neck of your guitar. Sign up in advance, this class is expected to be popular!

Wednesday, June 14th – Slow Jam Mixed Styles
If you can play chords without looking at your left hand, you are ready for this class! A fun class where you will learn to recognize chord changes by ear, learn chord theory, learn how songs are structured so you can jam immediately on songs, learn how to follow a jam, and learn how to lead songs. Open to all acoustic stringed instruments! Offered two times this summer with different songs. Second class on Tuesday, August 29th.

Tuesday, June 27th – Exploring the Circle of Fifths and Basic Chord Theory
Learn how various scales and chords are constructed, what I-IV-V means (plus 2, 3, 6, and b7 chords), how to create more interesting chord arrangements to songs, and what those numbers mean after chords.
Level: 2-3 and up
Wednesday, June 28th – Tips for Improving Your Singing Voice
Whether you are a beginning singer or have done some singing in the past, you can benefit from learning how to use your voice correctly to sing more in tune, manage breath control, sing with better tone, sing in more than one style, etc. Shy singers especially welcome!

Monday, July 24th – Beginning Harmony Singing
If you’ve always been mystified about how people sing in harmony this is the class for you. We’ll learn the basics and reveal some tips that the pros use. Whether your goal is to be able to sing harmony to a bluegrass or a rock and roll tune (or maybe you just want to be able to sing “Happy Birthday” in harmony) you’ll get a lot out of this one-night class.
Level: Beginning singer
Tuesday, July 25th – All Bob Dylan
This class will be taught at two levels simultaneously: Basic arrangements for the songs will be level 2-3. Harder versions of the songs (plus some of the leads played on the original recordings) will be level 3-4. We’ll use tablature for most of the arrangements, so you should already be able to read tablature pretty well. Also offered Wednesday, July 26th.
Level: Multi level class 2-3; 3-4

Traditional and newer fingerstyle blues songs by artists like Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotten, Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, and more. We’ll use tablature for most of the arrangements, so you should already be able to read tablature pretty well. Sign up in advance, this class is expected to be popular! Also offered Wednesday, August 9th.

Wednesday, August 30th – Advanced Harmony Singing, Mixed Styles
A rock and roll tune, a bluegrass song, an old-time song and a gospel song all in one class! You should have some prior singing experience to take this class, as it will move at a fast pace.

Tuesday, September 5th – Campfire Songs #3
Your favorite sing-a-long songs – Folk songs, pop songs, cowboy songs, rock and roll tunes, you name it. This class includes Jamaica Farewell, Tennessee Waltz, El Condor Pasa, Jailhouse Rock, Satisfied Mind, Abilene, Donna, Donna, Delia’s Gone, Norwegian Wood, and Proud Mary.
Level: 2 and up
Wednesday, September 6th – Playing in a Band
There’s nothing quite as fun as playing in a band! We’ll arrange several songs together in class. You’ll learn how to construct intros, fills, instrumental breaks and endings. You’ll learn how to support a lead singer, and not overwhelm the melody, band etiquette and much more. All instruments welcome.
