Details
Michael Hornick was the first employee of the Santa Cruz Guitar Co., he learned quickly and began making his own guitars under the Shanti name a few years later. Gryphon used to carry Shanti guitars, but not for long as Michael soon had a long waiting list and didn't need our help. The body sizes and decorative styles varied but comfy neck shapes, effortless playability, and stunning response were consistent, we never had a Shanti that wasn't a great-sounding guitar. This L model is a cutaway version of Gibson's L-00 shape, and the figured koa and Adirondack top, plus Michael's magic, give it a warm and balanced response. It was obviously a custom, with special inlays on the neck as well as abalone bordering around the perimeter of the top. Hornick's flawless workmanship is evident throughout in the precise fit and finish, all achieved with handwork as Michael never sought the help of CNC tooling. Condition is excellent plus, about the only signs of wear is light scuffs to the clear pickguard.
