Martin made a few runs of special models to celebrate their 175th Anniversary and this M-38 has a long list of Custom Shop features, in fact the neck block is stamped "M-38 Koa Special." The most obvious upgrade is the highly figured koa back and sides, but it also has grained ivoroid binding (instead of bare white Boltaron), Style 45 snowflakes inlay on the neck, and a pearl script logo on the headstock. There are a couple of dings to the top (bass side lower bout), but fret wear is very light and surface condition of back, sides, and neck is exceptionally clean. No cracks, no signs of repairs, comes with the original hardshell case. If you're a fan of highly figured koa this M-38 Special has oodles of curl, and both the back and sides are perfectly book-matched.
