It was recently refretted with stainless steel frets. Like all of the Japanese-built Gretsch guitars we have seen in the past few years, it is impeccably crafted with an admirable attention to detail. It has the classic Synchromatic lightbulb headstock, gold Grover Imperial tuners, cat’s-eye soundholes, and an ebony fingerboard with split “humpblock”inlays.\r
\r
The top is solid spruce and the back is solid maple, both of which are pressed into shape. The guitar is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. The only indication of it being a signature model is a small “JV” on the heel cap. Its stairstep bridge is fitted with a Fishman piezo pickup. The body measures 17 inches across the lower bout and the top is x-braced. This is very good sounding guitar with all the punch and projection you would expect from a large arch top when you dig in for rhythm playing, but it also has an appealing sweetness that works well for chord melody. The original hardshell case is equally clean.
https://www.gryphonstrings.com/products/2010-gretsch-g400jv-jimmie-vaughan-synchromatic-archtop-guitar-used-16807
