This particular guitar was ordered with master grade red cedar and master grade Indian rosewood, a classic tonewood combination. It has Lowden’s usual understated cosmetic treatment but  touches like the figured Tasmanian rosewood binding and the abalone rosette add a bit of subtle flash. Lowden’s S style is about the size of a smallish OM, with a slightly shorter string scale, and the result is a very comfortable guitar to hold and to play. This S-50 delivers a lot of bass response for such a relatively small guitar, yet there's the typical Lowden clarity in the trebles.
