If contemporary L-5 knock-off archtops are what you're after, this OM-sized version probably isn't an ideal choice. But if finely crafted guitars that wander artfully off the usual production guitar pathways are of interest, this "Swift" model by Portland luthier Tim Frick is worth a look. Tim's workmanship is top-notch, and displays a clean and consistently harmonious design. Because of its smaller size, the Swift doesn’t have the acoustic volume to drive a big band but its well-balanced tone is well suited to solo or small combo work. And thanks to the compact shape it fits up against your body, providing a pleasing vibratory feedback. The Swift is fitted with a Lollar Johnny Smith-style humbucker, a pristine sounding pickup that is perfectly matched to the timbre of this instrument. This guitar was built in 2020 and is in excellent cosmetic and structural condition. There is a small crack along the outer edge of the top near the upper portion of the bass side F-hole but it has been repaired and while it doesn’t show in the photos, you can see it in person upon close inspection. Includes a hardshell case.
