We’re big fans of oval soundhole mandolins here at Gryphon, and think that their characteristic warm, bubbly tone is perfectly suited to Celtic styles, old-time string band music, jazz and just about any style that doesn’t demand a percussive bark like bluegrass does. The Eastman MD314 is an excellent value in an F-style oval hole and has a solid, hand carved spruce top with satin lacquer finish, solid Maple back and sides, and oval soundhole. It has ivoroid top binding, a bone nut and adjustable Ebony bridge. This example was made in 2021 and is in excellent structural and cosmetic condition. Includes a gig bag.
