The cutaway makes upper fret access effortless, and the setup is especially comfortable, with low action that makes it easy to play for long stretches. This one is also fitted with an LR Baggs HiFi pickup system, making it well suited for stage or studio use. Tonally, it feels very open and responsive, with the kind of quick attack that Collings does so well. It responds beautifully to a lighter touch, but still has plenty of headroom when you dig in. Although it’s a fairly recent guitar, it has clearly been played and enjoyed, which has only helped it open up. There’s some light fretwear on the lower frets, but very little other cosmetic wear outside of a pressure ding on the bass side of the top near the lower binding and another near the cutaway.
