The Wee Lowden
We are very pleased to offer three variations of the Wee Lowden, the newest addition to the Lowden line. Although the Wee Lowden has a diminutive body, the guitars have a large, full tone. “I have been dreaming about designing a truly ‘small’ guitar for quite a while – but as usual I wanted the sound to be anything but small,” George Loden explains. “The final design focused on voicing the bracing and soundbox geometry so that the voice was even and smooth without the ‘boxiness’ sometimes overly evident in small guitars.” Players who travel but need a great sounding guitar in a portable package should take a look at this guitar. We’ve also sold some to players who need a shorter scale length but don’t want to compromise on tone.
Our WL-50 is part of Lowden’s deluxe series and boasts an Adirondack spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. It has sweet, mellow tone with a surprising amount of volume,
The WL-22 has a red cedar top with mahogany back and sides, a combination that produces, a clear, bell-like tone with plenty of sustain.
The WL-55FF is our best selling Wee Lowden variation. The fan frets lengthen the scale of the bass notes, which give them extra punch and sustain. Fan frets look a bit odd, but they feel completely natural under your fretting hand. This example features a sinker redwood top and Indian rosewood back and sides.
