Details
Dobro introduced the Model 27 in 1934 and it quickly became their most popular model. This example was made in Chicago under the Regal name around 1938, although coming with an exact date is difficult. It has a body made of laminated hardwood, most likely birch, and has the classic sunburst on the top. This guitar has a round neck but it has been strung up with high, Hawaiian-style action for most of its life. The lack of fret wear suggests that this guitar spent most of its life set up that way. Consequently, the neck angle is not great and it really can’t be played with low action and standard tuning without extensive work. Which is not a tragedy because this is a great sounding Dobro that works perfectly for slide style playing. Includes a recent vintage hardshell case.
