Details
The Santa Cruz Guitar Company’s “1929” models have long been favorites here at Gryphon. This is partly because Santa Cruz has taken the simple aesthetic of the Depression-era all-mahogany guitar that inspired the series and elevated it several notches by giving their guitars wood binding, an inlayed logo on the headstock and a dark glossy finish. But the main reason is the combination of a 12-fret neck and an all-mahogany body produces a rich, balanced tone that responds equally well to a light touch or a heavy attack. We usually stock the 00 Grand Concert size but we decided to up the ante and order a 000 Auditorium and we are glad we did. The larger body has enough volume and projection to drive a small group, while having enough subtley and nuance to satisfy the most discerning soloist.
