Details
Production was begun on this 00-18 in late December of 1942 and although it saw a fair amount of use, and has playing wear to show for it, there's just one repaired pickguard crack to the top and the finish is original throughout. (There's a short crack to the treble side, and a slight crunch to the bass side, both repaired and not very noticeable, plus a short crack to back on bass side, near waist, also repaired). Original tuners with replaced buttons, and without bushings, original pickguard. Original bracing and bridge plate. Height of original bridge was reduced, and fingerboard was thinned near the nut, to lower string action many years ago. Recent neck reset and refret by Gryphon.
This is a very light guitar with great lively response (ebony neck reinforcement instead of a T-bar). If you look closely at the lower bout of the back, you'll detect what appear to be 2 very straight, and very tight, hairline cracks. But these aren't cracks, as they match on either side and are perfectly straight, indicating that Martin made this 00-18 with a 4-piece back (another effect of wartime supply disruptions).
Comes with a new case.
