Details
The Gibson EB-0 was Gibson’s straightforward, no-nonsense short scale bass, and by the late ’60s it had become a favorite for players looking for deep low-end punch in a compact and comfortable package. With its short 30.5” scale and powerful “mudbucker” pickup, the EB-0 delivers the thick, warm tone that made these basses so recognizable throughout the era. This example dates to 1968 and appears to be all original, including the rectangular closed-back tuning machines, which they occasionally used during this period. It has honest cosmetic wear throughout, including some fairly pronounced finish checking. Most of the Gibson logo on the headstock has worn away over the years. Structurally, the bass is solid and plays well. The short scale makes it feel fast and comfortable in the hands, while the original pickup still delivers the huge, rounded low end these are known for. For anyone after a vibey late-’60s Gibson bass with unmistakable vintage tone, this is a very cool example. It comes with a period correct Gibson hardshell case.
