Details
We don't see many Collings guitars made of koa, and after hearing how good this OM sounds and seeing beautiful the back and sides are, we have to ask, Why not? This one is styled in Collings’ 2H trim, with herringbone purfling, ivoroid binding, and a simple rosette that all pair really nicely with the koa and give it a classic look. This guitar was built in 1999 and is in excellent structural and cosmetic condition. It shows only light signs of careful handling, and we’d be surprised if it ever left the previous owner’s living room. After 25+ years, this guitar has opened up nicely with a balanced, smooth sound that preserves the signature Collings clarity and responsiveness. Its tone is dry, clear, punchy, with balanced lows, and a long lasting sustain when you let a chord ring. These are all great tonal qualities that just about any OM player can get behind. It’s a great-sounding, great-looking OM that feels right at home the moment you pick it up. It comes with its original hardshell case.
