A 20-years-old new Martin? This SP000-16 is about as close as you'll get, as the woman who brought it in admitted she bought the guitar with the best of intentions to play it, but "life got in the way" and that never happened. The "SP" of course stands for Special, and compared to the standard 16 Series models of the time there were lots of special extras that justified the SP prefix to the model code. For starters, the body is finished in gloss lacquer (regular 16 models were given a satin catalyzed finish), then there's the pearl rosette, abalone snowflakes on the fingerboard and bridge tips, and colorful Style 45 backstrip. Oh, and gold tuners plus faux tortoiseshell binding and pickguard. It sounds great and has easy string action, plus the original hardshell case.
This won't last long!
