Details
This Gibson Les Paul Custom Historic ’68 in Pelham Blue is a rare find. Built by the Gibson Custom Shop in 2006, it’s part of the original Historic series, which came before the introduction of the True Historic line in 2015. While most 1968 Les Paul Custom reissues from this era were finished in traditional colors like black or white, this example in Pelham Blue is exceptionally uncommon. It was likely a special order or part of a limited dealer run. The finish has aged beautifully, giving it a rich, vintage character that sets it apart from the more demanding blues out there. Combined with the gold hardware, another uncommon pairing for this color, it has a truly distinctive aesthetic.
Like a proper late-’60s Custom, this guitar features a solid mahogany top and body, rather than the typical maple-capped construction of Standard models. That all-mahogany build contributes to its warm, resonant tone and impressive sustain. It comes equipped with Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers in both the neck and bridge, offering a full, articulate voice with a smooth top end and plenty of dynamic response. The original pickguard is included but was never installed, so the body remains un-drilled, ideal for those who prefer a clean look or want the option down the line. It also comes with all of its paperwork inside of the original hardshell case.
