If you've been kicking yourself for not buying a Collings archtop when they were still available new, here's your next best option: A 15 year-old AT-16 that apparently just never got played. And even when Collings was still building arch tops, they were almost impossible to get as Gryphon was one of the first Collings dealers but we'd been waiting over 2 years for an AT-16 when we learned they had ceased production of the model.
Kate's photos do a better job of describing the beauty of this Collings than mere words can accomplish. We hope you can view the highly figured maple and gorgeous sunburst on display larger than a phone, you don't want to miss the little sunburst vignettes, such as on edges of the headstock and the portion of the neck heel that extends over the soundboard. The sound is equally precise, with typical Collings balance and clarity. And while we never want to make claims about the sound of an instrument "breaking in" after seeing significant hours of use, one can be forgiven for wondering about this example as there's no sign the strings have spent any time vibrating!
Original case is equally clean.
