We’re always happy when we get a Tim Frick guitar because it’s a real treat to see and play a guitar that is so beautifully designed and built. Tim worked in our repair shop before he moved to Portland and we got to see his dedication to his craft and his attention to detail up close. This Alta was built in 2023 and it’s in very clean cosmetic and structural condition. The Alta is a new model for him and a collaboration with San Francisco jazz guitarist Terrence Brewer, who was looking for a guitar that was easy to travel with but still had a full, rich tone. Happily, the Alta fulfills, and even exceeds, the requirements. The body measures 14” across the lower bout, so it’s quite compact, but it’s still large enough to feel comfortable when sitting down with it. The top is solid, carved spruce and the back is carved, solid maple that sports some lovely figuring. The Alta is fitted with a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbucker and the volume and tone controls are mounted to the top. Includes a heavy duty, padded case.
