The Les Paul Supreme was Gibson’s top-of-the-line solidbody at the time, and this 2005 90th Birthday Edition is an especially clean example. Built to celebrate Les Paul’s 90th birthday, it pairs the classic carved maple top with a carved mahogany back, giving it a unique “bookmatched” look on both the front and back. Only 90 of these were made, each personally signed by Les Paul himself. The signature sits under the final lacquer coat, so you don’t have to worry about it fading or rubbing off. The top has a classic goldtop finish with the more ornate “custom” multi-ply binding, which makes for an elegant presentation. The ebony fingerboard features split-block inlays and a special “90th” inlay at the 12th fret, setting this model apart from other Les Pauls. It’s outfitted with a 490R in the neck and a 498T in the bridge, a versatile pairing that delivers thick, clear, and sustaining tones. This guitar is in excellent condition, with just a few very minor signs of wear. It comes with its original hardshell case and paperwork. Both rare and beautifully executed, the Supreme 90th Birthday Edition is as much a collector’s piece as it is a player’s guitar.
