Details
Gryphon hasn't offered many Altman guitars in the past, but the high quality is obvious at first glance and Bob Altman and his sons have been building guitars for over 25 years from their home base in Florida. This ten years-old Dreadnought is made with dark straight-grained Cocobolo back and sides with an Adirondack top. The one-piece mahogany neck has been given a "speed neck" treatment (removing the finish on the barrel of the neck, see photos). Aside from the neck treatment, and the Cocobolo, the styling of this A-D2 closely follows the 1930s Martin D-28 template, and a powerful-sounding Dreadnought is the result. It hasn't seen much use, certainly far less than it deserves, and is in nearly perfect condition.
