Details
Here's a one-owner D-35 not far from its 50th birthday that hasn't seen much use in recent years as the original owner admitted that it always felt a little too big. It's original throughout, the only repair being to a hairline crack in the headstock facing done here at Gryphon. This wasn't a crack in the mahogany neck itself, just a hairline in the thin rosewood veneer on the front of the headstock (if you look carefully under bright light you might be able to see it). No other cracks or repairs, the original finish has aged nicely and the fret wear is minimal. Light finger wear to surface of pickguard. Newer hardshell case. These D-35 models do sound different from a similar D-28 as while the top's X-bracing isn't scalloped, the braces are 1/4" wide instead of 5/16" wide as on D-28 models. The other differences are things you can see, namely the 3-piece back, bound fingerboard, and additional black/white binding lines on the sides.
