Details
This Builder’s Edition 816c is in excellent, lightly played condition with just a hint of fret wear. It was custom ordered from Taylor without a pickup in 2022. It has Taylor’s Grand Symphony body shape and is the first guitar of this size to have their innovative V-Class bracing. The top of this guitar is Lutz spruce, a naturally occurring hybrid of Sitka and White spruce. Lutz spruce tops have the stiffness of Sitka and the lower density of White spruce, a combination that pairs well with the Indian rosewood back and sides. The 816c has a well-balanced bass to treble response and works well for both fingerstyle and flatpicking techniques.
Like the other guitars in the Builder’s Edition series, the 816c has binding with chamfered edges and the Silent Satin finish, which reduces the squeaking and sliding sounds of a player’s natural arm movements on the body. The most striking feature of this guitar is the soundport cutaway, which resembles a partial Florentine cutaway. This design keeps the guitar’s full back intact while still allowing easy access to the high-register frets. The additional soundhole allows for wider sound dispersion than a guitar with just a standard soundhole. The scale length on the 816ce is 24 ⅞”, which a little shorter than usual on a large guitar like this, and the lighter tension makes playing this guitar a little easier on your fretting hand. Includes a deluxe Taylor hardshell case, which is equally clean condition.
