This 2019 Preston Thompson 00 is a beautifully straightforward small-body guitar built with all-mahogany construction, giving it the dry, woody response and strong midrange presence that players love in a great 12-fret. The smaller 00 body paired with the 12-fret design gives the guitar a warm, open character with a surprising amount of fullness for its size. The mahogany top, back, and sides are paired with an ebony fingerboard and bridge, while traditional details like tortoiseshell celluloid binding, Waverly tuners with ebony buttons, and a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish give it a timeless pre-war inspired look and feel. What it lacks in flashy ornamentation, it more than makes up for in craftsmanship and attention to detail, with excellent fit and finish throughout. The 24.9" scale length and 1 3/4" nut width make for a very comfortable playing experience, especially for fingerstyle players, though it also handles flatpicking exceptionally well. Like many Preston Thompson guitars, it has a lively, lightweight feel in the hands and a very immediate response. The satin finish has burnished a bit glossier in a few spots from playing, but there are no signs of repairs, modifications, or structural issues. Includes its original hardshell case.
