Details
Here's a remarkably solid WW II-era Martin that has survived 80 years without much playing wear and no damage. For those who love all-mahogany guitars, this example has almost holy grail status as it has unique top bracing only seen for about a year. Martin discontinued scalloping the X braces in late 1944, and instead tapered those braces far more severely than in the years that followed. The result is more bass response and warmth than you hear in later 00-17 models. Other differences are the ebony neck reinforcement and lightweight Kluson tuners, Martin's concessions to war-time restrictions on brass and steel.
The bridge was replaced with an overly long one years ago, and the finish touchup from our more accurate replacement is still visible, that's the only finish touchup to be found. Along with a neck reset and refret, Gryphon's repair crew also released and reglued the original pickguard (the pickguard shrinkage crack under the B string, now repaired, is the only crack on the guitar). Finish is original throughout. Comes with a new Martin hardshell case.
