The Rickenbacker Model B6, colloquially known as the Panda, is one of our favorite steel guitars. This example is in excellent structural and cosmetic condition and has all of its original parts including the horseshoe pickup with the 1 ¼” magnet, the tuning machines and a Geib chipboard case case. Dating Rickenbackers from this period is tricky but this model has the metal tailpiece, the T-shaped nameplate with the older Rickenbacher spelling, the metal pickup surround and white outline around the frets, traits that suggest it was made in 1945 or very early 1946. These Bakelite beauties have a wonderful, round tone that can’t be beat.
