Details
While this Strat has seen several alterations in it's lifetime, what still remains is a lightweight alder body , early slab Rosewood neck, and three original Fender black bottom single coil pickups.
The neck and body (8 hole, no shoulder in pickup cavity) were stripped of the original finish long ago, but it does retain a body date of 4/59 in the tremolo cavity. The slab rosewood neck does not have a pencil date, which is common for this period.
Most of the hardware and harness components were changed in the 1980's; this includes the pickguard, pots, pickup selector, knobs, bridge/saddles, tremolo block. The pickup selector is an import 3-way from the 1980's. The pickup covers have been replaced, but the pickups appear to be original but we're not certain if they have been rewound. They read as follows: neck: 5.61k, middle: 5.86k, bridge: 6.60k
The neck had different tuners at one point, leaving evidence in the form of added screw holes and larger washer rings around the post, but the original single line Kluson's are back on it. The decal is a replacement. The neck has also been refretted by the Gryphon gang, and has a very comfortable "D" shape.
This is great playing, player grade slab board Strat that has a lot of potential for further restoration, if one chooses.
Includes new-ish Fender tweed case.
