Details
The NY models (for New York) introduced in 1961 were the first cataloged reissues of an earlier style of Martin guitar. This 00-21NY from 1964 has the blank fingerboard, small rectangular bridge, and lack of a pickguard that set these NY version apart from the standard 00-21 models Martin had been offering since the early 1930s. This example has that vintage 12-fret vibe but with the sturdy reliability for use with steel-strings of other 1960s Martin models. It sounds and plays great, thanks to a recent neck reset and refret, and except for that welcomed renewal of its playability it is original throughout. Although it has seen a fair amount of use over the years, and has the light surface wear to prove it, there are no cracks or signs of repairs to the body (original bracing and bridge plate). There's a faint outline on the top from an earlier after-market pickguard but you have to catch it in the light just so to see that. There's light crazing to the lacquer on the top, but the "short and shallow" lines typically found on Martin's thin finish of this era. There is a small filled ding on the neck barrel but you have to look carefully to find it.
Comes in a recent arch-lid TKL case that fits properly.
