Details
This Martin B-40 acoustic bass was made in 1992 and it's based on Martin's J-40 jumbo body shape and ornamentation. The top is Sitka spruce and the back and side are Indian rosewood. We sold quite a few of these during their run from 1988 through 1996 and we were sorry to see them dropped from the line in favor of less expensive mahogany versions. This particular example is in excellent cosmetic and structural condition. The frets are very slightly worn but they still have lots of life left in them. We installed a Fishman Matrix pickup in the bass ages ago but apart from the slightly enlarged endpin hole to make room for the jack, there are no other modifications. This a sweet sounding, mellow bass that plays very well. Includes the original hardshell case.
