Details
It’s always exciting when we get a Stefan Sobell guitar in stock. His instruments have a sweet, singing tone that is perfect for playing the music of the British Isles but they have a nicely balanced tone with lots of sustain that works well for just about every acoustic guitar style you can think of. This Model 1 Sicilian was made in 1999 and it’s in excellent structural condition but it does show play wear on the top under the high E string and it also has a few minor nick and scuffs here and there. The top is European spruce and the back and sides are cocobolo. Sobell’s design has a unique radiused top and back that produces clear trebles and focused bass. The Model 1 was introduced in 1983 and it was Sobell’s first flattop guitar model. In 1992 Sobell created a revised version which became the Model 1 Sicilian. (The first of these went to a player in Sicily and Sobell named the Sicialian in his honor. The Model 1 Sicilian underwent one other revision and became the Martin Simpson Model.) We don’t see many Sobell guitars here in the US and those we do see are usually in the hands of players who refuse to let them go. Includes a Calton case.
