Details
Fresh from a local SF Bay Area estate, this top-of-the-line Brazilian/Adirondack D-42 is a testament to how well Collings guitars hold up over time. Yes, it's clear this didn't get played much, and was the star of a small collection rather than the go-to Dreadnought for local jam sessions, but you have to admit that looking this good and this much like a new guitar after being tuned up for over 20 years shows the builder was doing it right.
The condition is close to like-new,, with only very light scuffs to the pickguard, some minor surface marks to lacquer, and slight hints of fret wear. Once you play it, however, you wonder how the original owner could have left a guitar this good unplayed, as it has the tone and power that essentially defines the Brazilian/Adirondack Dreadnought reissue. Volume and Headroom? not a problem, that's for sure. The Brazilian is very dark, so very hard and dense, which is no doubt part of that ringing reverb you hear on the first hard strum. No cracks or issues or signs of any changes or repairs.
Original case.
