Details
It would be difficult to overestimate the influence Mike Auldridge had on the Dobro in contemporary bluegrass, and his smooth soulful playing was a big part of The Seldom Scene's popularity. The Beard MA-6 was designed by Paul Beard with and for Mike Aldridge, and he used it exclusively during the years before his passing in 2012. It's easy to recognize an MA-6 by the "hearts & flowers" pearl inlay on the neck, and when played by the warm low end plus clarity & sweetness in the upper register. This example's body is in excellent condition with almost no playing wear, but the neck does show small nicks and light scratches from use as it was owned and played by Mayne Smith, a prominent musician in the SF Bay Area folk and bluegrass scene since the early 1960s.
Note: This had a pickup which was no longer functioning and was removed, so the jack you see at the bottom isn't connected to anything. These models come with a Beard reflex baffle.
