Details
Paul Reed Smith is best known as an electric guitar builder, but his acoustic instruments are right up there with some of the top boutique makers. His designs are distinctly his own, and they sound like it. This Tonare Grand is a large-body acoustic, built with a European spruce top and gorgeous cocobolo back and sides. Cocobolo shows up throughout, too, including the body binding and purfling, rosette, fingerboard, and bridge. The bracing is also unique, with a scalloped X-brace that transitions into fan bracing below the bridge plate. The result is a big, bassy voice with chimey top end, lots of overtones, and plenty of volume. Condition is excellent overall. Structurally, it’s in great shape, with only light playwear. Mainly a few scratches where a pickguard would typically be. The frets are in great condition, and the action is dialed in and very comfortable. If you’re after a cannon of an acoustic guitar, this one can do just about everything. It comes with its original hardshell case.
