Details
This D-41 Special was made in 2011 and it’s in excellent, lightly played condition. The frets show a little wear, but overall this instrument looks like it has spent most of its life in its case. Which is too bad because it sounds great. This model combines features of the standard D-41 with those of the Vintage Series instruments that Martin was making in the early 2000s. It has forward shifted scalloped x-braces, a Sitka spruce top and master-grade Indian rosewood back and sides. Rather than the standard Style 41 hexagon inlays, this beauty has Style 45 snowflake fingerboard inlays. The body, headstock, and neck are bound in ivoroid and the bridge pins have abalone dots. The headstock has the classic vertical C.F. Martin inlaid in abalone. The tortoise-patterned pickguard has a polished, beveled edge. It’s fitted with gold open-geared tuning machines. The neck has a modified V carve. Includes the original Martin hardshell case.
