Out of all the Boat Paddle ukuleles we’ve seen (which unfortunately has not been very many), this is by far the most “boat paddle” looking one, but don’t let its shape discourage you. This is a very balanced and full-sounding tenor. The late Jerry Hoffmann was known for his wonderfully unique and beautiful ukuleles, in which many, including this one, were built in New Haven, Missouri. The attention to detail on this build is very evident upon first glance. The woodworking is especially impressive and can be easily seen by peering into one of the two sound holes that surround the fingerboard. This one features a spruce top and rosewood back and sides, and has a very balanced sound with tons of clarity. Installed is the popular Mi-Si pickup, and sounds great when amplified as well. This tenor has been meticulously cared for and shows almost no playwear shy of a couple of the tiniest top dings you’ve almost never seen. It’s also easy to play with a comfortable neck and great action. It comes with a hardshell case.
